Strong candidates today combine SQL fluency, applied statistics (causal inference, experimental design), Python for analysis, and the communication skills to land insights with non-technical stakeholders. Comp at senior DS lands $180-260k US base, £85-140k London, with FAANG and the trading-tech tier going meaningfully higher.
